Creating disciples of Jesus Christ

Celebrating with worship, prayer, and praise

Welcome!

We are pleased that you are interested in worshiping with us. Sometimes unfamiliar places and practices can be intimidating. We want you to feel comfortable. Our hope is that the following information will be of help to you as we worship together.

Holy Communion

The First Sunday of each month at 9:30 AM Traditional Worship and on the Second Sunday at 10:45 AM Lighthouse Modern Worship we celebrate Holy Communion. This is a time of remembering the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. Communion is open to all persons, including children. You will receive a piece of bread and dip of Christ's sacrifice and the gift of forgiveness. If your denomination does now allow you to partake or if you are not comfortable with going forward to receive the elements, you are invited to participate through your prayers in your pew or table. If it is physically difficult for you to come forward, but you wish to receive the elements please tell one of the ushers at 9:30 AM or greeters at 10:45 AM.

Baptisms

Baptism is a sacrament by which any individual of any age is received into the Christian faith through the water of baptism. Through braptism we accept God's gift of grace through Jesus Christ and promise to respond in faith and love. When an infant or child is baptized, the parents promise to raise the child in a Christian home and the congregation makes a commitment to help nurture the child. These vows are later reaffirmed by the youth when he or she is confirmed as a member of the congregation.

Becoming a member of Calvary UMC

Persons who join the church promise to serve God and support the church with their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service, and their witness. You can be received into membership by Profession of Faith or Transfer of Membership. Talk with Pastor Heather for more information.

Nursery

We provide a Nursery for children 0-4 years old every Sunday during 9:30 AM Traditional Worship after a children's message. Children are always welcome in both worship services. At 10:45 AM Lighthouse Modern Worship the children leave for special learning activities after prayer time or may stay with family in Fellowship Hall.

Attendance

At 9:30 AM Traditional Worship Attendance Pads are at the end of each pew. At 10:45 AM Lighthouse Modern Worship Connection Cards are available on the round tables within the Lighthouse Worship Center. Please sign these to indicate your presence and to help us keep attendance each week. Please also include your address and phone number if you are visiting so we might thank you for your attendance and support you with anything you may need. They will be collected after the services.

Giving

Giving to God and for God's work is our highest privilege. If you are a visitor, our services are our gift to you. We do not anticipate that you will give because you are our guest. For everyone else, we remind ourselves that the Biblical standard is a tenth of our income and that generosity is one of the signs of the life of Christ within us.
